Home sweet home ...
What a weekend ...
I guess the image sums it up rather nicely and there's more of course! Caught up with old friends, met new ones, danced a lot, played with Nana a lot and generally enjoyed the coming of spring in the most beautiful city in the world.
A free pass to the event made me a lot more choosy about which workshops to attend, which came to a total of ... hmmm ... two? Ok, I admit I was a lazy bum with the workshops, but I did dance until 4am on Sat!
There comes a point in your Salsa development when you simply don't get that much out of workshops anymore. Or maybe I was just lazy, or both ... yeah, definitely both.
And there's nothing wrong with preferring parental and pet TLC ... ;)
Travel & Music
Finally I'm off to Prague today.
... in desperate need of family, TLC and my dog. It's been a while and a strenuous couple of months, so a couple of days off at home are definitely in order.
Of course I'm not sure how relaxing the weekend will be with the Prague Salsa Festival, which probably means an average of 6 hours of sleep over 3 days, countless hours of dancing, booze and ... ;)
There'll be lots of photos ...
Oh, and randomly I came across this music, love his latest single.
Now watch the video!
That's right! Thanks to our all hearing, all seeing big brother Google and their cool little new video service, you can now watch the Salsa of the UCLU Dance Show "20" online ...
Make sure you set the screen size to "original size", otherwise it's a bit grainy.
... curtain call
It's over and done ... and what a show it was!
Three months of hard work resulted in amazing show, three sold out performances and great feedback from everyone.
We were nervous, happy, sad, excited, scared and everything else that features in the emotional spectrum of performing in front of 500 people.
It was an superb experience and I'd like to thank my two co-choreographers Marie Anne and Sandy without whom I couldn't have possibly put the Salsa choreography together!
And of course I want to thank my other fabulous dancers
Emma, who worked so hard in directing the whole show and also dancing in three other dances as well as choreographing herself ...
Masara, who was so much fun, is one of the nicest people I know and not to forget that she choreographed one of the sexiest dances in the show ...
Oscar (aka Bob), who has been referred to as having a bit of a Hugh Grant touch (I promise that's what a lady said!) and kept us in good spirits throughout ...
Arron (aka Chuck), who without a doubt had the best facial expressions when acting his role, he was an example for all of us
Bing (aka Ding), who rocked the dance floor with his Hip Hop moves ...
... all of you, you were simply "aaaaaawesome"!
Photos!
Last but not least there's photographic evidence of the fact that we had a good time:
The Opening Night After Show Party
Fun in Matthew Bourne (our dressing room)
Opening night ...
4 days to go ...
Oh boy, last rehearsal this morning at 7.45am ... now that's what I call dedication! But we're almost there, in every sense of the word.
The choreography is finished, everyone has practised to the best of their abilities, which are universally awesome and we're going to kick some serious butt.
Not to mention the fact that the boys (incl. me) look like serious and mean security guards. We even have proper south western US of A names, they're Chuck (aka. Arron), Bill (aka. Oscar), Ding (aka. Sun) and Mitch (aka. me).
We must be very convincing because most people sheepishly showed us their IDs when we harassed them at the door to the full cast rehearsal last Sunday.
So if we fail at everything else, we can always be security guards ...
Showtime!
We've been rehearsing like mad, practising killer moves at break neck speeds, expect sexy ladies, hunky guys, fab music and an impressive finale!
It's the UCLU Dance society's 20th anniversary dance show at the Bloomsbury theatre next week and yours truly and seven other fabulous dancers will be performing a kick ass Salsa routine in it.
Other dances include Hip Hop, Breakdance, Jazz, Ballet and many more. It's going to be awesome, so don't miss it!
